The Arts Council for Long Beach seeks Long Beach artists for an upcoming photography exhibit, Nomadic Exposure, to showcase the numerous public art installations throughout the city of Long Beach. All photos must be taken with a mobile phone camera. Discreet, quick and readily accessible, the lenses in such phones let professional and amateur photographers alike capture on-the-spot images. What was once something of no value on a mobile phone is now used by professional photographers as another medium of artistic expression. The convenience of these cameras encourages people of all levels of photographic skill to engage with their surroundings and bring a unique perspective to Long Beach's public art collection.
The City of Inglewood, California invites professional artists to apply for Inglewood Growing Artists Projects, funds to assist in the creation and/or completion of an original artistic project to provide a cultural benefit to the City of Inglewood. The project must be completed within one year of signing a contract.
Funding: Three awards will be made: one at $25,000, one at $15,000 and one at $10,000. Artists may apply to any funding level; a separate application is needed for different funding levels. If artists are collaborating, a lead artist must be identified to manage the Artist Project, receive and report on the funds.
DEADLINE: June 26, 2013 5pm at Inglewood City Hall, 5th Floor

'Art should attend us everywhere that life flows and acts.' – Naum Gabo, 1920
This brief is to be understood as a riddle. The curatorial group platform79 invites international creative practitioners to develop site-specific interventions in the public realm of London. The temporary interventions proposed should neither require permission from the authorities, nor risk committing a criminal offence. We seek creative responses that suggest ways to push the norms regulating art in public space.
