Since its inauguration in 2009, the Festival of (In)appropriation has emerged as a premiere international showcase of experimental found footage film and video, attracting the work of artists who probe the limits of collage, machinima, remix, détournement, mash-up and more.

Co-curated by Jaimie Baron, Lauren Berliner, and Greg Cohen, and sponsored by Los Angeles Filmforum, the Festival of (In)appropriation now invites submissions for its 5th edition, to take place in Los Angeles in November 2013.

PHOTOGRAPHY-BASED ART

AM I INVISIBLE? A PORTRAIT OF NEW YORK BICYCLISTS
Bicycle Utopia, a transmedia project at the intersection of art and
bicycling in New York City, announces Am I Invisible? A Portrait of New
York City Bicyclists.

NOW THROUGH 03/07: an open call for photographs and photography-based art
that capture the spirit of bicyclists and the diversity and style they bring
to the streets of New York City. A portion of the entry fee ($30 for first
entry, $10 for each additional) will be donated to Transportation
Alternatives, New York’s leading transportation advocacy organization.

Five images selected by a panel of judges will be awarded a $500 gift

Culture Push call for submissions, deadline March 5

Call for Submissions!
Spring 2013 Fellowship for Utopian Practice

Since 2012, Culture Push has supported six socially engaged projects that
explore diverse subjects, including food and empowerment; the practical
choreography of street protest; theater as a mode of philosophical inquiry;
reimagining the waterways of NYC; and re-envisioning abandoned space in the
Bronx.

The open call for the Spring 2013 Fellowship is now open. Artists and other
creative professionals are encouraged to apply with ideas for projects that
expand their practice beyond its traditional boundaries, are highly
interactive, and engage the public.

Culture Push will select 3 Fellows whose year-long tenure will begin in
Spring 2013, and help them develop big ideas that have real world

Festival Images is launching another round of its project competition.
Artists and photographers have until March 15th 2013 to enter the Vevey International Photo Award.

The purpose of this award consists in providing crucial assistance for projects that have not been realised, in the form of a grant up to CHF 40,000 (around € 33,000), in order to bring a photography or film initiative to completion. There is also the potential to win other prizes and receive exhibitions proposals at Quai1 or during the Festival Images.

In an effort to foster the creative debate on urban recovery after Hurricane Sandy, MoMA PS1 and MoMA’s Department of Architecture and Design are calling out for ideas to create a sustainable waterfront.

Artists, architects, designers, and others are welcome to present ideas for alternative housing models, creation of social spaces, urban interventions, new uses of public space, the rebuilding of the boardwalk, protection of the shoreline, and actions to engage local communities.
