Call for Nasty Artists
PORÑATAS Sin Verguenzas is a Chicano/a exhibition of not so traditional, hand-crafted paper mache piñatas that examine individual ideas of Latino/a sexuality through the use of sexually explicit and provocative imagery. Given the historical Mexican/Catholic interpretation of the piñata as a symbol of the human struggle against temptation, the PORÑATA is alternatively a representation of erotic fantasies and social/sexual internet realities that challenge and illuminate issues of fear, desire, and ultimately, love that are indicative of the Chicano/a sexperience in 21st century Los Angeles.

Emerging Artists Publication Series
Call for Submissions
Printed Matter is pleased to announce a call for submissions for a new Emerging Artists Publication Series. Five selected artists will work with the support of Printed Matter and a dedicated designer to realize individual projects. Books will be published in a loose serialized format and share a common dimension, spine and colophon, but the content will otherwise be left to the artist. This Emerging Artists Publication Series is made possible by the support of the Jerome Foundation, and is open to individuals with a legal address in the five boroughs of New York City.
