AMP: Artists' Meeting Place and Resource Collective

L.A. Choralettes is offering final, private auditions January 10th and
11th (daytime hours TBA with you) and Jan. 18th (daytime hours TBA) for
multicultural women who are soloist-level singers in their 40's and 50's
to become members of their harmonic performance group.

The currently 15-person chorale sings 3 and 4-part harmony on uptempo,
positive music that is standards and contemporary songs with a jazz
flair. They will perform locally this year. However, performances are
embarked on for fun and to give back to the community and are not to be
thought of for career purposes or to generate revenue. Rehearsals are
in Culver City the 1st and 3rd Tuesday night of each month from 7-9:30
p.m. Regular participation is mandatory (3 misses per year max.)

The City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) Percent
for Public Art Program is seeking artists interested in creating
site-specific public artwork for newly constructed Police Department
(LAPD) and Fire Department (LAFD) facilities located throughout Los
Angeles. Artists commissioned as a result of this
Request for Qualifications will design, fabricate, and install
independent and/or integrated public artworks that will be accessed
and experienced by passers-by, facility visitors, and public safety
employees, as part of the unified texture and fabric of our City's
neighborhoods. Potential opportunities and sites for artwork exist on
interior and exterior walls; within hallways, lobbies, landscaped

The Crystal City Business Improvement District is seeking qualified artists to help produce a temporary, outdoor art exhibit featuring illuminated sculptures in the Crystal City Water Park. Selected artists will receive a grant of $5,000 to build and implement their concept.

Hello. My name is Laurie Sheppard and this year I founded L.A.
Choralettes, a harmonic chorale for women in their 40's and 50's. We
sing uptempo, positive contemporary and standard music with a jazz flair
in SSA.

With a goal of only 15 members, we're at 7 and still growing. We're
looking for good singers who sightread and can commit to our ONLY twice
monthly rehearsals in Culver City the 1st/3rd Tues. night of the month,
at home practice time with our piano links, and the light performance
schedule that begins next year. Our schedule is easy and so is the
audition - the last ones are Dec. 7th and 14th this year!

W e want to have fun and start bookings. We've even been called to sing
at the Staples Center, but didn't have our group ready.

Within the framework of the 7th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art in 2012, curated by Artur Żmijewski, artists from all over the world are requested to send in their artist material for a research investigation, following the conditions below.

We accept artistic material in hard copy formats not bigger than A3 (297 x 420 mm or 11.69 x 16.54 in.), printed images, digital data, as well as DVDs.
PDFs in A4 (297 mm x 210 mm or 11.7 x 8.3 inches) or fax will also be accepted.
Please do not send any original artworks.

The City of Santa Monica is distributing an RFQ for Event Production of the Santa Monica Festival for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013 (please see attached). Proposals are due Wednesday, December 8 by 5pm. The winning bidder will start work on the festival in mid-December. Cityworks Design is seeking up to four artists who have a history working on the Eastside to join their Preliminary Design Team on the Eastside Access Project, a Measure R funded project intended to use urban design to enhance the streetscape and improve linkages for four Metro Gold Line Stations and their surrounding neighborhoods.

The selected artist(s) will use their expertise and knowledge of the local community to identify public art opportunities while adding their artistic influence to the conceptual design of elements in the public right of way. These ideas should be reflective of the local community, buildable and easy to maintain.
