The Chinese American Museum (CAM) invites visual artists to participate in (de)Constructing Chinatown, a new exhibition that re-examines Los Angeles’ Chinatown to open in October 2011. Stipends of $3,000 will be awarded to selected artists to help support and subsidize the completion of the project to be exhibited at the museum, with possible additional funding of $1,500. Application deadline: 3:00PM October 6, 2010
This exhibition aims to provide an alternative to the commonly held preconceived notions about Los Angeles’ Chinatown and aspires to re-envision a new perspective that includes real understanding and appreciation of Chinatown as an essential part of Los Angeles’ changing landscape.

Camillo 2.0: Technology, Memory, Experience combines science, scholarly
pursuit and art in a five-day program consisting of lectures, presentations
of current research (both theoretical and practical), performances, debates,
and workshops. In addition, hybrid program components, or 'shifts',
introduced by participants or inititiated by the organisers will pave the
way to unconventional presentation situations. This PSi conference is an
initiative of the Theatre Studies department at Utrecht University and
Utrecht's annual Theatre Festival aan de Werf. The conference will be

51st ANNUAL LOS ANGELES COUNTY HOLIDAY CELEBRATION
The Los Angeles County Arts Commission is seeking County-based youth and adult community and professional choirs, dance companies, and music ensembles to perform in the 51st Annual Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration. The Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration is a free public event that honors the spirit of many cultures and holiday traditions through music, song and dance and takes place every December 24th at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center in downtown Los Angeles. The stage production is also broadcast live on television, and an annual one-hour highlight broadcast is carried nationally on PBS.
The LA Female Playwrights Initiative (www.lafpi.com) is a grassroots organization. It has commissioned a study of the play-producing tends in the LA theater community from 2000-2009. Responses are requested from LA-based playwrights and theater companies by July 30, 2010. Our goal is to find out the number of productions by male/female playwrights put up on LA stages over the last ten years. Please report and let your voice be heard.
If you are an LA-based playwright or representative of an LA-based company, your participation is requested. If you are in ANY WAY connected to an LA-based playwright or LA-based theater company, please pass this information on to them.

PASADENA ARTWALK CALL TO ARTISTS
The 5th Annual ARTWalk is accepting artists submissions.
The Pasadena Playhouse District Association is inviting artists to submit artwork for the 5th Annual ARTWalk. This year’s ARTWalk will take place on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 11 am until 5 pm at El Molino Ave. between Colorado and Green St.
All artists are welcome to apply to exhibit in ARTWalk. Artists submitting work must fall in one of the following categories:
Drawing
Mixed media
New media
Painting
Photography
Sculpture
Application fees*:
- $150 - application fee
*Artists work will be juried. If not selected, application fee will be returned
