Creative Divergents Winter 2011 Showcase

The Creative Divergents Winter 2011 Showcase is now accepting submissions. All forms of creative works are encouraged - any media, subjects, and styles are welcome. Open to all ages, internationally.

$1,000 (USD) award. Winning submission determined by creative vision, innovation, potential to engage an audience, presentation (i.e. quality of the images submitted), and overall impression. The top 25 submissions will be featured in a printed catalog.

$5 fee per submission (includes up to 3 images).
Deadline: December 15, 2011 (11:59pm EST)

GALERIA invites artists to submit work(s) for consideration in the first
Queer Art Exhibition of Queens. The first installment of the project
denominated Queer Bodies will focus on visual representations of the
masculine and / or feminine physique and the manner in which gender and
identity are constructed. Interested applicants using various media
(painting, sculpture, video, illustration, photography, digital arts,
installation, mixed media, etc.) are encouraged to apply. See guidelines for

We Are All Palestinian

In September, Palestinians will appeal to the United Nations to recognize the autonomous State of Palestine-more than 63 years after the U.N. Partition Vote and the end of the 1948 war that punctuated the establishment of Israel.

September will also mark the 10th anniversary of the second Intifada. Moreover, it is the 10th anniversary of 9/11 along with the 10th anniversary of the Levantine Cultural Center.

Artoteque Online Gallery is pleased to invite all artists to submit ART NOW the 4th contemporary art annual competition 12 months on display that takes place online at artoteque.com. All entries go through a selection process judged solely by visuals submitted online or attachment send to: submit@artoteque.com.

The selection
The selection is conducted on Jpeg [.JPG] versions of the submitted works online. Submitters whose entries pass the selection are included in exhibition and are requested to provide the entry fee payment.

Materials to be received
Submit online 6 - 12 works /JPG s image files 72 dpi up to 800 pixels and the works details: title, year, technique, size and sale price.

Entries without a fully completed application form will not be accepted.

international photo contest (for Russians)

Foreign View is a photo project depicting social, political, cultural and everyday life of citizens from different countries.

Russian photographers who take pictures abroad and foreigners who photograph life in Russia are eligible. The contest welcomes professional photographers, amateurs and associations of photographers of any age and nationality.

Categories include state power and the information society; people and events; borders and spaces; state symbols; customs and traditions; national memorials.

The competition is organized by the Boris Eltsin Presidential Library.

Photographs submitted to the contest may be of any genre: portrait, reportage, stage photo, landscape, still life, photo collage, etc.

Community Arts Journalism Challenge

The Knight Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) have organized this journalism challenge to initiate high-quality cultural coverage, new and innovative ideas and constructive criticism from individuals and organizations.

Any journalist can apply as long as their idea focuses on one of the following communities: Akron, OH, Charlotte, NC, Detroit, MI, Macon, GA, Miami, FL, Philadelphia, PA, St. Paul, MN or San Jose/Silicon Valley, CA.

First-round winners receive up to US$20,000 to develop an action plan, which should clearly describe their project and how it will impact arts journalism in one of the eight communities listed above.

Video, photography contest open [Africa]

Southern and East African photographers and video makers can participate in a contest.

The contest is organized by the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in partnership with Gwanza Arts.

Photographers and video makers are invited to submit works on the theme of "Pimp My Combi," as a marker of vernacular aesthetics and cultural codes, as well as a vehicle defining both urban landscape and social space throughout Africa.

Bringing together for the first time photography, video and sound installations, Gwanza 2011 proposes to look at the combi (or minibus) as a marker of vernacular aesthetics and cultural codes, as well as a vehicle defining both urban landscape and social space throughout Africa.
