new short video and film, the TEDxSAArtistsVillage Short Video and Film
Festival will debut at TEDxSAArtistsVillage on 10.1.11 in Santa Ana CA.

TEDxSAArtistsVillage, produced by Creative Orange County, a "think
tank" @ the intersection of culture, commerce and community, is the
successor to TEDxFullerton, 9.10.10, the first ever TEDx event in Orange
County CA. TEDxFullerton began the conversation about what is means to
be a "creative" community.

This year's TEDx and Festival theme is "extraordinary".

Eligibility: Open to all artists residing in Southern California. All entries must be original and must have been completed since January 2009. Employees of the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department are not eligible. Awards: BEST of SHOW $500 – Ten Awards of $100 each. The Film Council Of Greater Columbus is accepting entries for the 59th Columbus International Film + Video Festival. The Columbus International Film + Video Festival, the longest running film festival in the United States, is also known as the Chris Awards.

This just in- There is now a $1500 Travel Award for a filmmaker to come to the CIFVF. The filmmaker chosen will travel to the festival and perform the final adjudication for the 2011 Greater Columbus Arts Council Media Fellowships. This award is not limited by division so all entries are in consideration for this award. And also this year, thanks to Showbiz Software, everyone who enters the CIFVF wins a prize! All of our film entrants will receive a free digital copy of The Showbiz Labor Guide.

The Arts Council for Long Beach (Arts Council) is seeking proposals from artists and curators for temporary exhibitions and site-specific installations for The Collaborative, a visual art gallery in downtown Long Beach. This is an open call to professional artists and curators residing in the Greater Southern California region. Long Beach residents are encouraged to apply.

THE COLLABORATIVE
The mission of The Collaborative is to present exhibitions that raise awareness of emerging artists and new, innovative approaches to art. In addition, the gallery is intended to provide an urban space where groundbreaking artists have the opportunity to create new, site-specific installations.

CRITERIA

The photo contest, sponsored by The Washington Post, publishes outstanding photos under the broad theme of travel. Photographers are encouraged to experiment with lighting, angles, subjects and composition.

Photos must have been taken after July 31, 2010 and applicants can only submit one photo per person. To view photos that have already been submitted, click here.

The competition is for non-professionals and applicants may not earn more than 50 percent of their income from photography. Winners will have their photos published by The Post.

Animate Projects - the champion of experimental animation – is delighted to announce its first online exhibition selected from an open submission.

The Animate OPEN is part of Digitalis, a strand of activities throughout 2011 that sets out to explore, question, subvert or confound our expectations of art and the 'digital'. And that includes 'anti-digital' - handmade, physically crafted animation.

A Thematic exhibition “Abstracts” by Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery in a Juried Competition. A Group exhibition of the top five finalists will be held online at the Light Space & Time Art Gallery for the month of July 2011.

Awards will be for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. All winners will be selected, announced and featured on the Light Space & Time website on July 1, 2011 and remain online in the gallery for the month of July 2011. Thereafter, the artworks will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives with links to the artist’s websites.

Five Years and Still TUFF!

Filmmakers, animators and video artists are invited to submit one-minute silent films for an urban public to the 5th annual Toronto Urban Film Festival (TUFF).
