Donna Henes seeks band members for Halloween parade, Manhattan, October 31

A FABULOUS HALLOWEEN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU!

Even though this event takes place in New York City, I am sending the notice to everyone everywhere, because in past years we have had participants fly in to join us from California, Alaska, South Carolina and France. I would also appreciate your sending this on to friends in the New York area.

Dear Friends,

Here is some exciting news about an event that you may wish to participate in:

Once again, for the sixth year, my Blessing Band and I will be leading the famous Greenwich Village Halloween Parade with blessings. The idea is to perform a ceremony that will transform the streets from their secular state into pathways of sacred ground. The blessings will be for the safety and sanctity of the city and all of its inhabitants.

LA Folk: Calling Artists, Orgs, Venues: Join ARTmageddon

Very soon the media, city officials, metro, and pretty much everyone else in Los Angeles will all be talking about one thing: Carmageddon II. Let's unite in response and offer Los Angeles residents an alternative view of what to do on Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30... ARTMAGEDDON.

Running parallel to Carmageddon II, this two-day citywide celebration of the arts encourages Angelenos to stay out of their cars and, instead, walk-bike-metro to their local galleries, theaters, music venues, museums and more. Via www.ARTmageddonLA.com, we are telling your neighbors to experience your art.

Re Act calls for participation, deadlines Oct. 1 and Nov. 1

Re Act - Call for participation #1

Re Act is part of the Act series, an ongoing digital art project designed to
encourage criticism of contemporary politics. The exhibit Re Act is an
expansion of this concept, and will be part of a curatorial residency at The
Market Studios in Dublin, Ireland.

Artists are invited to use the Act tools for production/inspiration/objects
of critique to generate artwork, this could be any political commentary
relevant to anywhere in the world. The original Act project included the
development of five digital ‘tools’ or ‘guides’, which were then applied to
political content to create artwork. The idea is to use these guides to
create new artwork, in any medium!

Please see the website https://sites.google.com/site/actseries/ for more

Ame Gilbert seeks muralist/graffiti artists

Ame Gilbert is seeking muralist/graffiti artists, comic book
artists etc. of Mexican descent to participate in a Oaxacan pig-roast fiesta
following a day-long conference of food writers/bloggers and media artists
in upstate NY on 9/15. While the conferences focus is on "old media, new
media and the false divide," we'll use the story of Mexican migration in the
Hudson Valley, and the Mexican contribution to agriculture and the food
industry. We have a side of a barn to paint to tell this rich story, as well
as walls to fill, music to make, poetry to speak and a zine to produce that
highlights the amazing contributors at the conference and fiesta. For more
details send a note detailing how you might participate to
