The Summer 2010 Showcase is open and accepting submissions. As a reminder, all subjects, styles, and media are welcome. Challenge, explore, push boundaries! The winning submission will receive $500 (USD) and is determined by creative vision, innovation, potential to engage an audience, presentation (i.e. quality of the images submitted), and overall impression.

On 7 October 2010 the Architecture Museum of Ljubljana will open the 22nd Biennial of Industrial Design (BIO 22).

The Biennial of Industrial Design (known also by its Slovene acronym as BIO) is a comprehensive international exhibition that highlights current trends in contemporary design through its selection of well-designed products with an emphasis on quality, originality and innovation.

In the autumn of 2009, Rasheed Araeen, editor of the respected periodical on
art and culture Third Text, launched a frontal attack on the modern ego and
the recuperation of the avant-garde. Instead of the continued rigid

The newest cultural arts center to arrive on the Mississippi Delta scene "officially" opens Friday March 5th 2010; but is already having major impact on the people, the arts and the media throughout Mississippi. The House of Khafre (affectionately called "da' House") is located at the epicenter of where Blues (America's Root Music) was born, 103-105 Main Street, in historic downtown Indianola, Mississippi.

International communications nonprofit ICVolunteers is calling for creative photography on the theme "Diverse Perspective on the Environment, Citizenship and Volunteering." Deadline: March 7.

Schools and students are invited to share their work, with the goal of emphasizing how much civil society can contribute to good citizenship through volunteer activities and keen knowledge of environmental issues.

Winning photos will be shown in an International Photo Exhibition.

Last year's call -- under the theme "Environment, Citizenship and Volunteerism" -- garnered 350 pictures, showing views from 60 countries.

Documentary filmmakers from around the world are invited to submit entries for an International Festival of Documentary Films which will be held in Morocco in October. Deadline to submit entries: May 31.

The festival aims to contribute to Moroccan urban development -- culturally, economically and socially -- and to reflect and share the concerns of the people there.

Call for Entries: The West Virginia Mountaineer Short Film Festival, March 12 & 13

The West Virginia University Department of Art, in association with the Appalshop organization, is pleased to announce a call for entries to the West Virginia Mountaineer Short Film Festival. Screening works under 20 minutes, programming categories include: documentary, narrative, animation/experimental, young filmmakers (under 18) and works that focus on Appalachian culture and themes. There are no rules governing content or artistic approach. There are no entry fees for submission. We only seek well crafted, compelling or conceptually challenging works in video, film and multimedia.
