Call for Artists: Night Dive at the Aquarium of the Pacific (deadline May 18 / LA area)

Call for Art!The Aquarium of the Pacific announces a Call for Artists for a one-night event called "Night Dive."

Project Description
Night Dive, held on the evening of Friday, June 25, 2010, is an opportunity for adults 18 and over to explore the Aquarium after dark and to enjoy an exclusive evening of local music, art and culture. The previous Night Dive event held in January attracted 1400 guests and featured 50 art pieces.

The theme for the upcoming Night Dive's one-night exhibition is Beach Iconography. Night Dive aims to celebrate the start of the summer by showcasing different lenses of beach culture- surf, skate, beach cruisers, and the ocean. All entries should relate to the theme.

Call to Artists - Deadline: June 26, 2010

2010 California Open Exhibition. TAG Gallery Juried Exhibition at
Bergamot Station Arts Center, August 17 – September 3. Open to all
U.S. artists 18+ working in computer art, drawing, mixed media,
painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. 2-D works: maximum
48"h x 36"w and no more than 30 lbs. Sculptures no more than 40
lbs. Entry fee: $30/1-2 entries, $5 each additional entry, 6 maximum
(jpegs on disc only) Cash Awards. 35% commission on all sales. Juror:
Karen Moss, Deputy Director of Exhibitions and Programs, Orange County
Museum of Art.

One writer from each age group will be chosen and The S&P Experience will produce a staged reading of their work.

Call for Proposals: Temporary Public Art in NW Pasadena, $1,000 honorarium (Los Angeles area / May 15)

The Armory Center for the Arts is seeking proposals from Southern Californian artists and architects for a temporary site-specific Land/Environmental art installation or structure in a vacant lot in Northwest Pasadena.

Proposals are due via email by May 15th. Winner will be notified by May 31st. Winning project will be installed in June and run from July - December, 2010.

A $1,000 honorarium will be provided to the selected artist/architect to cover expenses related to the creation of the work.

Call to Artists: Ventura Art Festival (deadline May 15 / June 30)

Ventura Art Festival “Call to Artists”

Ventura Art Festival
Saturday October 2 from 10-6 and Sunday October 3 from 10-4
Plaza Park in downtown Ventura

Artists of all original fine art and fine craft disciplines may
apply. Artists must submit one application per category. All entries
will be juried. Digital images of work required for jurying. Show
juried by Michael Kelly, fine artist/designer and Director, Ray
Bradbury Theater and Film Foundation.

Application Fees are:

$15 Early Bird Application Fee (received by May 15)

$25 Application Fee (received by June 30)

$35 Late Application Fee (if received by July 23)

Artists must provide their own displays and/or canopy. Space fee is
$175.

This year, the Ventura Art Festival will select a Featured Artist.

Competition invites photos reflecting on modern feminism

The European Women's Lobby (EWL) is seeking photos which expose the visions of young women (under 40 yearsold ) and their world to a competition. Participants must live in a country of the European Union or a candidate member country. Deadline: June 30.

The competition seeks images that make a creative and powerful statement on the theme "My World: Visions of 21st Century Feminism."

The competition aims to encourage young women to think about the concept of feminism and what it means today and create an exhibition which highlights how feminism is still relevant to a new generation of women.

A clear description of the photograph must be included with each entry.

Refugee film competition open for young filmmakers (deadline May 30)

Young filmmakers from around the world are invited to participate in a film competition that reflects on the theme "Will we meet?" Deadline to apply: May 30.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is hosting the competition for World Refugee Day, June 20.

An event marking the occasion will screen all prize-winning films. Contestants must be under 26 years of age and their films must run between one and five minutes.

Applicants should submit their films to a UNRWA field office. THe First place prize winner will receive US$1,500. Second and Third place winners will take home US$1,000 and US$500, respectively.
