TITLE: Reflections on the Harbor: The Land
DEADLINE: April 1, 2011
MISSION STATEMENT: Angels Gate Cultural Center: unites art, community, and culture.
CONCEPT: In the year 2012, Angels Gate Cultural Center (AGCC) will celebrate its 30th year in existence. As a precursor, the galleries will explore the South Bay/Harbor region from a topographical, cultural and historical perspective. With a focus on modern life in this region, AGCC will use a range of programming that encourages community participation through exhibitions, storytelling, workshops, dance, music and theatre. Angles Gate Cultural Center is seeking submissions of artwork that depicts the physical or futuristic landscape of the South Bay/Harbor region.

Meringue Diplomacy inspired by the life of Antonin Carême, the recognized
founder of French Grande Cuisine
We would like to see Carême’s ideas about edible architectural brought to
their (il)logical conclusion, so we're asking professionals (both culinary
and architectural) and lovers of Art and the Culinary Arts to make us
sketches of the most wonderful edible structures you can imagine. We’ll
display these at Astor Center, on March 28th, as part of our Gala event.
Works can be "in the style" of Carême, or can appropriate his ideas in a
contemporary interpretation. Think "images of towering confections,
AMOR FATI is a thematic, quarterly digest featuring the works of Los Angeles writers, artists and creatives. In a city of disparate parts, our aim is to create an active platform for organic and challenging exchange that is not only reflective of this generation but brings a collective voice to an anomalous city. Amor Fati can be found in 10+ bookstores around LA and has a readership of over 600 people.

The Blank Theatre Company Young Playwrights COMPETITION & FESTIVAL
is the premiere nationwide forum dedicated to developing and producing plays and musicals by playwrights 19 years of age and younger.
Since 1993 we have developed and produced 208 plays and musicals by playwrights as young as 13 years old!
How does the COMPETITION Work?
The Mixed Roots Festival is looking for stories that concern the Mixed
experience. Submit your film, writing (fiction, memoir, poetry), craft
workshops (writing, filmmaking, storytelling), or LIVE performance
piece. You may find your work featured at the 2011 Mixed Roots Film &
Literary Festival. We're looking for submissions in Film, Writing and
Performance that celebrate and nurture storytelling of the Mixed
experience: interracial/ cultural relationships, transracial/ cultural
adoptions and anyone who identifies with having Mixed, Hapa, Biracial
or Multiracial heritage.
THE LATE DEADLINE for submissions is March 20.
This years fest occurs on June 11-12, 2011 at the Japanese American
National Museum in Los Angeles.
The Downtown Art Center Gallery is seeking submissions for a group
exhibition in May 2011. All mediums are welcome; work should be made
within the past 3years.
Please submit 10-20 images maximum in JPG format on a CD and mail to:
DAC Gallery, 828 S. Main St, Los Angeles, CA 90014. If you would like
your submitted materials returned, please include a self-addressed and
stamped envelope. When submitting work, please include your name and
contact information as well as dimensions, medium, and titles (if
applicable).
There is a $40 non-refundable portfolio review fee per applicant.
Artists whose work is not selected for the May exhibition may be
considered for future shows.
Deadline for submissions is Friday, April 1st 2011. Deadline for drop
Artists’ Television Access invites experimental film and video makers to
submit their work to its 6th Annual ATA Film and Video Festival.
Short works, including but not limited to, animation, documentary,
narrative, abstract and found footage based will be accepted. Also, this
year the festival is open to proposals for workshops, installations and
media performances.

Fourth International Printmaking Juried Exhibit Call to Participate Mexico 2011.
All prints that have the required specifications will be exhibited in June and July at Arte AC / Tecnol€ ¦ógico de Monterrey http://www.arteac.edu.mx/
The guest country for this 2011 exhibit is Greece. This means that we are able to publish their message of peace.
A selection of 50 prints chosen by a jury will be displayed on the invitation and poster.
The first prize jury award is the opportunity of a solo exhibit in 2012. The second prize jury award is the opportunity to participate in the Third International Printmaking Collective in 2012.
