REDCAT is accepting proposals for original performance works to be presented in the 13th Annual New Original Works (NOW) Festival, which is designed to support the development and presentation of contemporary performance in the Southern California region. The three-week interdisciplinary program of dance, theater, music, and multi-disciplinary works will take place at REDCAT in late July and early August 2016. The festival features a flexible schedule to accommodate shared programs of short works and occasionally some longer projects. REDCAT provides development support through technical assistance, access to the theater with its sound and lighting inventory, and an honorarium.

HUMANITAS Changing the World One Story at a Time

Center Theatre Group and HUMANITAS request Submissions For PLAY LA Workshop

Center Theatre Group and HUMANITAS will be accepting submissions from Los Angeles-based playwrights from Jan 15 to Feb 29, 2016 for the second edition of its PLAY LA Workshop. Writers will receive a $1,500 stipend as well as input from theatre, film and television professionals throughout the year. At the end of the process, one play will be featured as a workshop at the Kirk Douglas Theatre as part of PLAY LA’s weekend celebration of new plays in the winter of 2017.

Contemporary Art Gallery Online announces their 4th Annual International “ALL Paintings” Online Art Competition for the month of January 2016. Contemporary Art Gallery Online encourages entries from all 2D artists regardless of their experience or education in the art field. A group exhibition of all entrants will be held online at Contemporary Art Gallery Online during the month of February 2016. Awards will be given for the top 5 chosen winners. In addition to the winning images, depending on the amount and the quality of the entries received, Honorable Recognition awards will also be presented. This competition closes January 31, 2016. Winners will be announced on January 18, 2016.

Submissions to Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2016 open on Monday, December 7, 2015 and close on Sunday January 17, 2016 at 6pm, UK time.

With over 1,600 applications received in 2015, submissions for Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2016 are now being accepted. Applications are welcome from final year undergraduates and current postgraduates studying Fine Art at UK art colleges, as well as those who graduated in 2015.

To apply, we ask for a portfolio of six works to be submitted online via our website.

The 5th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art will take place in Moscow from July 1 to August 10, 2016. The curator of the Main Project is 32-year-old Nadim Samman from the UK, who is the creator of a host of exhibitions with the participation of leading modern artists in London, Moscow, Berlin, Venice, Zurich and Marrakesh. The theme proposed for the 2016 biennial is “Deep Inside.”

BACKGROUND
In June 2015, the City of Los Angeles was selected as one of four
cities to receive up to $1 million as part of the Bloomberg
Philanthropies Public Art Challenge, a new program to support
temporary public art projects that celebrate creativity, enhance urban
identity, encourage public-private partnerships and drive economic
development. LA’s winning project, CURRENT:LA Water, will establish
the City’s first Public Art Biennial for Los Angeles.
