CALL FOR ENTRIES!

One In Ten Screenplay Contest is open to all writers and offers cash awards and industry contacts to the winners. A requirement of the competition is that at least one of the primary characters in the screenplay be gay or lesbian (bisexual, transgender, questioning, and the like) and that gay and lesbian characters must be portrayed positively. All writers are encouraged to enter!

Cool Audio Project - World Listening Day

Dear Friends,

I'd like to invite you to participate in a special project of radio
aporee and the World Listening Project for the first World Listening
Day, on Sunday, July 18, 2010.
Radio aporee is an open project about the creation and exploration of
public space. Its creator, Udo Noll asks you for help in creating an
"audio snapshot of the world" as heard and recorded on World Listening
Day. Aporee maps uses the Google maps interface to allow anyone to
easily find their location on the map, then upload their audio via the
web or mobile phone.
We're inviting you to send an audio recording from your actual location,
or other places of your interest on this day to the maps:

Call for Nominations: 5th annual Everett M. Rogers Award (deadline July 9)

Dear Colleague:

The fifth annual Everett M. Rogers Award for Achievement in Entertainment Education was a great success last September, and we are delighted to announce the sixth year of the Rogers Award.

The award, named in memory of internationally recognized communication scholar and former USC Annenberg School associate dean Everett M. Rogers, was presented in 2009 to Charles "Garth" Japhet, the creator of Soul City, a large-scale, highly effective multimedia entertainment education program in Southern Africa. Other previous winners are Mexican writer/producer Miguel Sabido, entertainment education scholar Arvind Singhal, Stanford University professor Albert Bandura and international entertainment educator and activist David Poindexter.

Asian women photographers invited to participate in photo festival (deadline August 31)

Women photographers of Asian descent are invited to submit photo essays covering issues or events in the applicant's native country. Deadline: August 31.

Fifteen projects will be selected for screening as part of the Angkor photo festival in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on September 10.
