Sound Development City is a new Sound Development project which enables a close exchange between artists of various backgrounds.

In the course of summer expeditions to Berlin, London and Zurich, selected artists from the areas of music, performance and other cultural fields experience and revive urban spaces. The dernier cri is the focus of these expeditions – it allows for an independent exploration of themes and modes of expression in the perception of the three cities. The work resulting from this exploration will in part be shown in public.

Participants are chosen on the basis of their application. Deadline for applications is 27 April 2012.

The Garbage Barge Revisited: Art from Dross

In 1987, Islip Town became infamous when a barge containing tons of commercial trash from the town was forced to sail along the Atlantic coast for 3 months in search of a landfill for the waste. As a result, Islip Town paved the way for the nation to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

This exhibition, our annual Open Call invites artists to consider alternate ways to repurpose cast-offs, which might otherwise be waste.

Open to all visual artists working in any medium.

VIDEONALE 14 – CALL FOR ENTRIES

From 15 February to 7 April 2013 the 14th VIDEONALE will be taking place in the Kunstmuseum Bonn. We now invite all artists to apply for VIDEONALE 14 with a single or multi-channel video work.

There are no restrictions on the subject, but the works submitted must be not more than 2 years old, i.e. they must date from 1 Jan 2010 or later.

A jury of international experts will examine the entries and those selected will be presented in the VIDEONALE in the Kunstmuseum Bonn.

The Ventura Chamber of Commerce is seeking artists for its fourth annual outdoor art festival. Artists of all fine arts and fine crafts are encouraged to apply to this juried show. Digital images of artwork are required for jurying. The fee for a 10x10 artist space is $50. Arts in the Park will take place August 18 and 19 2012 at the Ventura Harbor. A chalk art event to raise funds for a local non-profit will be a part of the festivities. Seeking chalk artists as well. The screenings take place after dark, under the stars, using state-of-the-art equipment, in our outdoor amphitheater beneath the towering redwoods of Big Sur, California. June 7 - August 26, 2012.

Because of the amazing response we have received over the last few years from our community, both local and world wide, we are looking forward to making this year’s event even better than before!

Indian citizens can participate in a photo contest.

Better Photography and Canon present the Photography of the Year competition, open to Indian photographers of all skill levels.

There are eight themes and entrants can submit four photos to each. The first-prize winners from each theme will face-off for the Photographer of the Year title.

The grand-prize winner will receive a Canon EOS 7D camera.

The contest is free to enter. Upload images online by December 10.
