Application deadline: 18th March 2011
Within the Project Facing the artwork – the viewer in moving images we call for artists to submit video/filmworks which deal with the topic of the perception and/or the perceiver of art. Our aim is to explore through the variety of artistic approaches the role and significance of the audience and the single viewer in relation to the artwork, to the artist and to the art system. We focus on the spectator as observed by the artist - and reflected by the medium of the moving images.

Art in Odd Places (AiOP) is a non-profit public art project based in New
York City exploring connections between public spaces, pedestrian traffic,
and ephemeral transient interventions. For the past 7 years, AiOP has
presented a large-scale festival each year with an all volunteer staff.
Art in Odd Places aims to stretch the boundaries of communication in the
public realm by presenting artworks in all disciplines outside the confines
of traditional public space regulations. AiOP reminds us that public spaces
function as the epicenter for diverse social interactions and the unfettered
exchange of ideas.
