The First International Art Fair Ever Held in Brooklyn, Now Accepting Applications From Galleries Everywhere; DEADLINE February 1 for All Applications
THE INAUGURAL ART BROOKLYN
Call for Artists who have recently moved to New York City (or are planning to).
The Artist Welcoming Committee: New York City Branch seeks guests of honor
for Welcome to New York! the first in a series of celebrations intended as a
hail and welcome for a promising batch of artists new to New York City's
arts community. Inaugural event will be at EFA Project Space February 24th,
2011.
To be considered please submit 5 jpg images of recent work, a short artist
statement, and a paragraph or two letting us know a bit about you - why you
decided to move to NYC, what your plans are, and why we should choose you to
be honored. We more interested in seeing your shining personality and
creative potential than hearing a laundry list of past accomplishments.

EXHIBITION RUNS: 19th of January- 28th February 2011
Vienna based photographer Lukas Gansterer is the author of the
provocative 2009 photo campaign for the Austrian fashion label Wendy &
Jim & DJ HELL. His work combines realness, acrimony and aesthetic,
fast-forwarding imaginative boundaries.
Porn aesthetics play a vital role in his work. As its name suggests,
this new solo exhibition focuses on the fetish of playing with milk.
In addition to the large scale photographs, the gallery space also
becomes an integral part of the work itself by being covered in
polythene sheets.

30 lx or ‘30 lux’ is the minimum light intensity required by the Buildings Department’s Code of Practice for the Provision of Means of Escape. Constructed using low cost materials, devoid of any ornamentation, these compulsory means of escape are perhaps the purest examples of entropic architecture. Virgile Simon Bertrand’s photographic studies draw attention to an inadvertent phenomenon, how despite the common genesis of these architectural features, each offers subtle but surprising structural variations that give rise to an elegantly minimal formal vocabulary.
