OPEN CALL FOR ARTWORK
An America - Part 2
Following the gallery’s previous An America exhibition – which will travel to The Box gallery in Los Angeles in September – a second part of the show will open on September 27, 2025.
Unlike the first exhibition which addressed our country’s history and its present situation including historical as well as more recent work, the second part will be an open call inviting artists to contribute a drawing, collage, painting, or photograph (old or new) addressing their thoughts and feelings about the first eight months of this administration’s second term. Since the exhibition is an open call, please share this message with fellow artists.
An America - Part 2 will comprise the participating art community’s reaction to our ongoing national tragedy: the first of what will hopefully become a host of political gallery exhibitions using the venues we administer as showcases of resistance.
Artwork should be no more than 24 inches in any direction. Work does not have to be framed, but if needed, inexpensive Blick frames are displayed HERE. Please email the gallery to confirm your wish to participate. Email or call the gallery to arrange for drop off or pick up of work prior to September 25. Sale of work in the show can occur through the artist or the artist's representative rather than trough the gallery. The gallery will act as an intermediary if asked.
The statement for Part 2 remains the same as that for the first An America exhibition:
The country is in crisis. The government is being dismantled by nihilists, conspiracy theorists, oligarchs and white nationalists who see our allies as our enemies. The sovereignty of other nations is being threatened by an administration’s imperial imaginings. We are becoming a surveillance state. Retribution, not unity, is now our national motto.
And the galleries. We have a platform. We cannot be silent.
